Is it ok not to visit parents in law who live close for thanksgiving?

+5 votes
I have been married for 7 years and we had spent all the thanksgiving and christmas at parents in law's house for the past since I got married, however, I started to think I sometimes want to spend these holidays just with my husbadn and my kids. ( My parents live in abroad.) As they live one hour drive from us, is it strange if we don't visit them? By the way, my husband has 3 more brothers to visit his parents for these holidays. I had grown up in another country, I don't know how important these holidays are. Please give me advice if it is ok not to visit them or not. ( I prefer not to visit every single year.. kind of too much....) thank you.

It is all upto a single individual and their thinking, but it would be nice to see your parents and spend sometime with them as they would be wanting to see you and your family.
