One can use lotions with the chemical permethrin, and also over-the-counter products like Rid and Nix used for pubic lice use it all over the body from the neck down, and then washed off after the specified number of hours on the directions. CDC also has chemical treatment called lindane, and a non-chemical treatment called crotamiton. Doctors prescribe an oral medication called ivermectin for severe cases, cases that are not responsive to the lotions and creams and also treat all clothes, towels, bedding thoroughly washed and Dry cleaned.
