what's the minumum number of men and women needed to form a genticly viable colony

I cannot quote the source for this; I read it long ago that the bare minimum for a genetically viable colony was 100 people. The article also suggested that "exclusive" matings not be allowed, in order to recombine genes as much as possible for the first few generations.
