how do i write an explicit equation for the net income as a function of time

Let "t" be the total time worked. Measured in hours if the pay rate is on an hourly basis.

Let "a" be the pay rate.

f(t) = a•t

If you know the pay rate, example: $10/hr, then a more explicit function would be...

f(t) = 10t
