In the case of exchange traded fund(ETF) they unfold on the basis of daily holdings. Whereas in the case of mutual fund they unfold on the basis of quaterely holdings.

In the case of ETF shares are not saved individually, whereas in the case of mutual fund at the end of the day shares are saved through the company holding the fund.
