3x + 5 + 6x - 7 = 25 (simplify)

9x - 2 = 25 (add 2 to both sides of the equation)

9x = 27 (divide by 9)

x = 3

substitute 3 for x in the original equation to check the answer

3(3) + 5 + 6(3) - 7 = 25

9 + 5 + 18 - 7 = 25

14 + 18 - 7 = 25

32 - 7 = 25

25 = 25
