Is it legal to put liens on property owned by someone other than the debtor based on a beneficiary deed?

My father recently passed away.  He had a beneficiary deed on his property leaving it to me and my five siblings.  The property is in Missouri.  Upon his death in 12-2014 we decided to sill the home.  It was at this time I found out that my tax liens dating back to 2005 had been placed on his property.  Now they want more than my share of the house to release the liens.  Is this legal
