The Fair and Accurate Credit Act (FACT Act or FACTA), enacted in 2003, gives consumers the right to get a free credit report once every 12 months from each of the three nationwide consumer credit reporting companies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion). The official website to get your free (really free) credit reports is AnnualCreditReport.com.
