How would you search for a 1956 chev by serial or ID number?

I had a car stolen back in 1973 and just thought that I would see if it was possible to search online with the numbers that are on my car title.

Thanks

The vehicle ID number (VIN) on a 1956 Chevrolet car can let you know a ton about that particular auto. The organization stamped each of its autos with a cluster of numbers and letters- -an alphanumeric code- -that distinguished where and what year the auto was made and what model it was. Unraveling a Chevrolet VIN is a standout amongst the most widely recognized methods for deciding the legitimacy of an excellent auto. Find the VIN tag. On most 1956 Chevrolets, the number is stamped on a metal plate found on the left entryway pivot column. This shifts on a few models. Case in point, the 1956 Corvette's VIN is stamped on the entryway post on the driver's side.
