They had also lost our transaction history with AT&T even though we've only been on their plan for about a year. Is it possible to hire an attorney or file a legal lawsuit against AT&T since they're refusing service for something that we already have. AT&T's cable and internet service is U-verse and run as if it's a separate company than their cellular service. You don't already have "cable and internet" service from AT&T. That's what you want to add from them. You apparently only have a cellular plan with them.
