Ask a Question

is it legal for a city worker to go in my backyard without permission?

+1 vote
I work for the city of T********e, FL. My boss is trying to make me go in people's backyards to retrieve city owned trash carts, including opening gates, screen rooms, utility rooms, porches, sheds, etc. I feel simply going into a backyard is a violation of privacy. I don't want to be arrested or shot for trespassing over a $48 cart. I am also tired of having my job threatened because she thinks we can do whatever she wants because "we're the city". Please advise.

Tell your boss how you feel about it, and ask for a different position. Also, ask your local government if you are allowed to do that.
