Can auto credit garnish my wages from work if i returned a car?

In short, no, the auto credit company cannot garnish your wages over a debt. They can however get a court judgement or possibly even a lien on your home or some other real property. Only the IRS can garnish wages. You can end up with a damaged credit score.

You will be notified of three opportunities to have the car back with changes in dollar payment amounts. You will be advised the car will be placed in an auction to get as much as possible of the amount owed. You will then receive notice of the amount the auction produced and the remaining balance you owe. There will be a hearing to obtain an order to garnish your wages, usually 20% of your wages.
