Native Americans or Indians were the first individuals to live in the New World. They had been existing there much sooner than the first Europeans arrived.
In 1492, Columbus cruised over the Atlantic Ocean to discover a shorter and quicker course to India. When he arrived on an island close to the American coast he thought he had arrived at India. Numerous students of history believe that the first Indians went to the American mainland from Asia in excess of 20,000 years prior.
