What is length of rope on flagpole if adjacent side is 11.6 meters long and opposite angle is 36.8 degrees?

Let "x" be the length of the adjacent and "y" the length of the opposite. The flagpole height will be the opposite.

tan θ = y / x → y = xtan θ

11.6 tan 36.8° = 8.68 meters

The rope must be twice the length of the pole to raise and lower the flag.

2 x 8.68 = 17.36 meters
